About Me
My name is Janet (nicknamed Jana) and I am a 2D Illustrator from California, USA and I love drawing Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure fanart! I have 2 pet birds (Azura and Sheogorath) and 1 Siamese cat (Mara), all named after Elder Scrolls characters. I use Photoshop and Procreate, and sometimes Clip Studio Paint, for my digital art. For traditional art, I love using nib pens with black India ink, Shinhan watercolors and poster paints, Prismacolor pencils, and Strathmore 400 watercolor paper, but I also love to experiment!
My Jojo Favorites
Parts Ranked (by how much I enjoyed them):
- Steel Ball Run
- Summary: A paraplegic Southern jockey really wants to touch an Italian doctor’s hard balls because they made him feel again, and goes on a cross country all-American horse race. Along the way, they discover Jesus, dinosaurs, and the nefarious plot of the President of the United States.
- It reads like a great American classic novel. The religious symbolism, the character backstories, the old Wild West setting were so beautifully written.
- Since the main crew has been reduced to 2 members, Gyro and Johnny’s relationship really flourishes. This is by far the most well developed bromance in the series. They would fight, make up, make jokes, make out…
- Golden Wind
- The way the characters interact and their relationships are so strong. Everyone’s personality shines through. I love the Italian mafia plot, and the setting was gorgeous!
- The homoeroticism goes crazy and it is very empowering to see these flashy androgynous twunks absolutely beat each other up. Araki does not shy away from creating queer coded characters who are not stereotypical flimsy fruits. These men go hard and will stop at nothing to achieve their dreams.
- Top tier side villains. I loved all of them! I think this part has the strongest side villains. They all had so much to gain and lose from each fight. They weren’t just Dio’s paid goons, or strangers. They were seeking revenge, and they would not stop at anything. Their personalities were very distinct and their outfits were cunt. Do I like them more because they are all fabulous, or is it for their character traits? Maybe both.
- Diamond is Unbreakable
- I really love the slice of life setting, and how most of the bad guys become just friendly neighbors. It’s really wholesome and funny!
- Favorite episodes to rewatch are the Josuke and Rohan gambling ones. Peak comedy
- Cute art style! I love Morioh’s piss colored skies
- Kira was such a fun villain. I don’t care if he was only introduced halfway through. I don’t care if he died from an accident. It was funny af and so fitting for a guy who wanted to be low profile. That doesn’t mean all of Josuke and co’s efforts were for naught.
- Jojolion
- TBH I need to reread cuz I forgot most of it, but I loved it! The fights were more psychological and confusing, but I enjoyed the vibes.
- I loved the little slice of life moments, like when the Higashikatas were just goofing around being a normal dysfunctional messy family.
- I love how Gappy was so soft and emotional. It’s such a departure from the cold blooded killer Jojo’s, and it is so sweet. I’m really happy we got a girl Jobro and she was so well developed and relatable.
- The ending got me messed up… he finally was part of the fam… It was just so adorable. This whole part is adorable. Who knew a manga about the fruit trade could be so touching? The main theme was FAMILY and it made me so emotional.
- Stardust Crusaders
- The introduction of stands was SO GOOD. I think they are the most fun and interesting anime fighting mechanic cuz of how crazy and silly they can be! Like the gambling ones, or Oingo Boingo. Earlier fights like the beetle guy were not very memorable, but by Egypt, Araki got the hang of it.
- I enjoyed the road trip setting! It was fun to travel around the world, to places most anime don’t go to. The boys’ dynamic was really fun, though as many know, I am a Jotaro hater… I know he cares about his companions, but he is just too disrespectful to women, esp his mom.
- Stone Ocean
- I feel guilty ranking it this low but I just did not enjoy the prison setting. Every episode just felt upsetting and stressful, with very little light hearted filler like in other parts (c’mon, even Orange is the New Black managed to fit in some down time). The gang did not have the chance to bond with each other. They only bonded to Jolyne, but their connections with each other were splintered… I think more scenes where the main gang were interacting would have made it feel more cohesive. Like, Jolyne barely even registered that Anasui existed lol. And she and Weather barely had time together.
- I do still love Jolyne and the characters! I really think Pucci is a fascinating villain, and the ending is so powerful. I love how Jolyne grew and developed from whiny little girl to prison queen. And a canonically pansexual buff female lead is insane for a shonen.
- In pt5, Araki focused more on the gang’s relationship with each other, and the main Jojo’s development took a back seat. I think he overcompensated for that issue in pt6, where Jolyne developed so much, but the friends around her were underdeveloped as a result since the run time was the same length.
- Battle Tendency
- solid shonen anime part. The fights were more interesting, since Joseph was always starting shit. I really liked him, and Caesar, and Lisa Lisa. It was so cool to me to see characters like Speedwagon come back, and older.
- Still, I think Hamon is fun just for a short while. There’s only so many different gimmicks you can pull off before it goes stale.
- Phantom Blood
- Not a terrible start. I enjoyed the first 2 episodes, but a lot of the zombie fights could put me to sleep in the middle.
- Jonathan is a good boy. Nothing wrong with it, but I really enjoy the complexity of the morally gray Jojo’s more. There were more characters in this part that just did not make me care, like Poco Loco.
